This course was created in partnership with the Virginia High School League to satisfy the coaching principles portion of VHSL’s coaches education mandate.
- Gain a high-level understanding of the 3D Coaching Framework
- Learn about SHAPE America’s National Standards for Sports Coaches as processed through the 3D framework
- Complete this course as part of VHSL’s requirement to coach in the state of VA

This course was much more insightful than I realized it would be. There was a lot that I can take back to my team and integrate into our coaching strategy. I really appreciate the way the pyramid structure was explained.
I enjoyed the smaller points which were discussed and brought up. They help to educate me to reinforce those principals in my own coaching.

This is an excellent program that actually provoked a lot of thought in how I can adjust my practices to become a more 3D oriented coach.
I very much like the connection made between the heart and mind. The spirit feeds the soul. I often mention that when things have taken a turn to the south, it usually can be from the disconnect between the mind and heart. The bridge needs to be built, again. This connection is prevalently mentioned or implied when the subject arises concerning the individual, group, and/or team. Too many coaching certificates emphasize the importance of the components of physical, technical, tactical, and psychological (mental/emotional) with maybe a mention of the individual's place within the hierarchy of the organization. The 3D model most definitely went far beyond these usual components. There was much to ponder and most definitely to be used.
Excellent material! A must for all coaches of all ages!
This course has inspired me to think about all three dimensions and to plan ahead more.
